Schools Project:
The Rhythm of the Rain
In the 2023–2024 season, we visited Additional Support Needs schools across Scotland with a music-and-literacy project centered around the children’s book ‘The Rhythm of the Rain’, by Grahame Baker-Smith. We worked with kind, dedicated, fun-loving students and educators in a series of inclusive workshops rooted in creative play and multi-sensory engagement.

Recorded in April 2024, our EP of the same name grew out of this project. It explores themes of water, exploration, and human-environment interaction in a suite of new arrangements and original music. You can find it on Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube.
We’re grateful to have received funding from Creative Scotland, Youth Music Initiative, Scottish Book Trust, and Paisley Book Festival to make this project happen.
Original music
We love writing original tunes. Over the past year, we’ve played our own music in concert society performances, workshops, and the 2024 Celtic Connections festival. We’re looking forward to following up our EP with our first full-length album FOLK(ISH) in the coming months.
Our work with composers
In addition to writing our own music, we’re committed to performing works by living composers. We especially enjoy working with local artists to workshop and premiere new music, and we’ve been fortunate to work with creatives in many genres, from classical to folk to hip hop.Our recent programme PREMIERE(ISH) explored contemporary work by Shelley Washington and Tom Irvine alongside our own original music, celebrating the living folk tradition and the unique soundworld of the string quartet.
